Refined Character Bungalow

Concept Brief

Our initial meeting with the clients was within minutes of settlement. With our clients situated in Asia and a tight time frame to move into the property, the brief was quite basic. The master bedroom, which was solely situated on the first floor, needed to be re-configured. With two young children, the clients wanted to house the whole family on one level. Within days of this brief, the list had expanded to a major renovation: new bathrooms, revamp the kitchen, installing front gates, new lighting throughout and updating both internal and external paint schemes.

Everything was to change other than the time frame of move in. Eight weeks to complete as the container from Asia was booked … An extensive tight program was locked in.

Joiners, electricians, carpenters and painters worked side by side to completely overhaul this property in this tight timeline. TDC was onsite daily to project manage the entire project. With a very pro-active client, whom decisions were made very quickly, the project ran on time and without any major hiccups. Just weeks after the relocation of my clients, it was decided to jump in again and replace the entire floor to an Aged French Oak board. This completely finished this family home

Project Highlights

With the clients overseas and decisions needing to be executed immediately, the trust installed on TDC was unparrelled. Basically, until the day the trucks rolled in with their container, the clients had not set foot in the property. It was one very overwhelming reveal for all.

The decision to make over both the kitchen and the master ensuite I believe have added immense value to this home. The palate throughout the home was sophisticated, modern but with a classic overtone. This is a signature for TDC and one that has proven very popular with my clients

Dramatic Facelift

The property stood out previously for its unique colour scheme. With a solid gold base colour with highlights of rich reds and soothing greens. It was a landmark, known mostly as the tropical entertainer yet situated in an upmarket urban playground.

TDC neo-classic colour scheme of soft warm greys and crisp whites contrasted beautifully with the dramatic black accents brought this home into the 21st century. The street scape has been enhanced. Highlight: Such a minor, yet such a tremendous change. All the garden beds were painted black. For once the beautiful garden took centre stage.

Final Result

From the initial meeting my clients were completely excited with some trepidation yet allowed TDC to completely transform their Bungalow into a refined masterpiece for them to enjoy or get back on the market and take the step up into a grander residence. Time will tell.
